Benazir Ahmed is not in Bangladesh

Bangladesh's retired inspector general of police (IGP), Benazir Ahmed, has become the talk of the towns following the Anti-Corruption Commission's disclosure of extensive wealth accumulated by his family.

A trial for him has also been demanded by various factions of the society.

However, this is the first time anyone has provided information on his current whereabouts.

A trustworthy law enforcement source informed TGE on Friday night that former IGP Benazir Ahmed is now outside the nation.

According to the law enforcement source, Benazir departed the nation on May 4th, ahead of the court decision requesting that the former police chief and his family's assets be seized and bank accounts frozen.

The insider further said that there is talk that Benazir is currently residing in Singapore.

However, TGE was unable to independently verify the speculation about Benazir's current residence, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the case.
